TEXT: ROMANS 12:2
As I was watching a programme on one of the God’s channels
TV on the sky satellite. The preacher was preaching to a congregation of more
than one thousand people. The people in the church were radiantly dressed in
different shades of different colours.
Something caught my attention when watching, a woman from
the congregation stood out from the rest of the people. She was the only one
wearing yellow in the congregation. As I was wondering how that could be
possible in a congregation of over a thousand people.
As I was still thinking and admiring the uniqueness of the
lady, the Holy Spirit said to me, “That is how I want you to stand out among
multitude, let your light shine conspicuously in the midst of darkness.” It
takes the grace of God to be able to withstand the spirit of compromise. The
bible says he that is standing should take heed lest he fall.(1 Corinthians
10:12) Many of spirit filled believers have fallen victim of compromise, it is
by the grace of God that we are standing. The spirit of compromise is tough and
it takes the grace and power of God to conquer it. In this end time, believers
find it easy to compromise their stand in Christ due to the things that are
happening around them. The pressure of this world has made a lot of people to
compromise their faith, even when they know it is not right.
The devil is using different problem and challenges of
life to make believers to change their mind against God. The scripture says we
are the light of the world, where there is light, darkness disappears. Darkness
can never overshadow light. As the woman in yellow was conspicuously noticed
from all angles in that very big congregation, so also should our light shine in
everywhere that we find ourselves. Romans 12:2 say we should not conform with
the pattern of this world, but we should be transformed by the renewing of our
heart.
Conforming with the pattern of this world means that you
are compromising your stand in Christ to do things in the way of the world, but
if your heart is transformed, you will be able to stand your ground not to do
things the way people of the world are doing it.
Believers are light and salt of the earth. Light is used
to expose what darkness is concealing. As light of the world, we should use our
lives to expose the wrong doings of the world (Ephesians 5:11) In the same
vein, salt is used to give taste and to preserve, as spiritual salt of the
earth, we should be able to preserve the world from moral decadence. We should
be able to give taste (meaning) to the tasteless (meaningless) world.
The world is looking up to believers for the change needed
for the world to be a better place. We should not allow situations and
circumstances to pull us into the world. If salt loses its taste, it has no
value anymore.
For the fact that
everybody is doing what is wrong does not make it right for you to do. God put
us into this world a light and salt to correct the wrong doings, we should be
careful not to fall victim ourselves.
Daniel and the three Hebrew boys refused to compromise
their stand in Christ even to the point of death! At the end of it, all glory
was ascribed unto their God, because they refused to compromise.
I pray that God will give each and everyone of us the
grace to stand for Him. He would help us to be able to be rooted and be
grounded in Him on Jesus name. Those that have compromised their stand due to
one reason or the other, I pray that the Almighty God will reinstate them back
on track in Jesus name.
