TEXT: 1
SAMUEL 16:1-3, 8-13
The Lord said
to Samuel, “How long will you mourn for Saul, since I have
rejected him as king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and be on
your way; I am sending you to Jesse of Bethlehem. I have chosen one
of his sons to be king.”
2 But Samuel said, “How can I go? If Saul hears about it,
he will kill me.”
The Lord said,
“Take a heifer with you and say, ‘I have come to sacrifice to
the Lord.’ 3 Invite
Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will show you what to do. You are to
anoint for me the one I indicate.”
Then
Jesse called Abinadab and had him pass in front of Samuel. But Samuel
said, “The Lord has not chosen this one either.” 9 Jesse then had
Shammah pass by, but Samuel said, “Nor has the Lord chosen this
one.” 10 Jesse
had seven of his sons pass before Samuel, but Samuel said to him, “The
Lord has not chosen these.” 11 So he asked Jesse, “Are these all the sons you
have?”
“There
is still the youngest,” Jesse answered. “He is tending the sheep.”
Samuel
said, “Send for him; we will not sit down until he arrives.”
12 So he sent for him and had him brought in. He was
glowing with health and had a fine appearance and handsome features.
Then
the Lord said, “Rise and anoint him; this is the one.”
13 So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in
the presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of
the Lord came powerfully upon David.
God can locate any vessel He wants to use from
anywhere, you do not need to be a forerunner, popular, strong, rich or
educated, before God can use you. You don’t need to have any qualification for
God to use you for exploit in His kingdom, why? Because He qualifies the
called. The bible says “God use the foolish things of this world to confound
the wise.” (1 Corinthians 1:27). If you are seen as able, capable and up to the
task, people may not appreciate what God is doing through you because they will
attribute the success to your human wisdom and knowledge. God prefer raising
people that the world has written off that they cannot amount to anything. He
does this to show to humanity that He is the only God that can bring out “throne out of the trash”.
The good
news I have for you today is that God does not look at the things man looks at.
Therefore don’t write yourself off. Though you are not known, you are unpopular,
you are not connected to the seat of power in your nation, and you may be
living in the most underdeveloped part of the world. Yet He can locate you as
He located David; and bring you to forefront. When Samuel got to Jesse’s house
and told him his mission, Jesse brought out all his “qualified” sons, but he
did not think of David because he saw him to be too young and saw him as unfit
for the anointing. David was left out of the plan until Samuel asked “are these
all the sons you have?” The scripture says
“the lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward
appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” David’s father looked
at the outward appearance and did not enlist David to be anointed, but the lord
that qualifies the called looks at the heart and sees what man cannot see in
people. You may not be eloquent or vocal enough Like Moses, but when He is set
to use you for His service, He will empower you and back you up. You may be a
timid person like Gideon, you may be the youngest like David, your clan may be
the least in your lineage, it has nothing to do with God, He will empower you
and endow you with the courage that you need for the service. I pray for you
today that no matter where you are located, the lord will locate you and bring
you out to lime light in Jesus name. Put your trust in God, walk in His way and
He will relocate you from the miry clay to the mountain top in Jesus name.
